A Farewell from Brighton Lure Boat

After 7 years of fishing the waters off Brighton, it is with a heavy heart that we have to announce Brighton Lure Boat is closing its doors.

First and foremost, thank you. To every angler who stepped aboard, whether for a first trip or a hundredth, you made this boat what it was. The early starts, the bass runs, the days the fish wouldn’t play and the days they wouldn’t stop: we have loved every one of them, and we could never have done it without you. Thank you also to our crew, our suppliers, and the wider Brighton fishing community, who have supported us from day one.

This isn’t the ending we wanted. Like so many small businesses across the country, we’ve been hit from every side: rising fuel, mooring and insurance costs, falling disposable income among our customers, and a tax and policy environment under the current government that has made it harder than ever for small, independent operators to survive. Reduced support for small businesses have pushed an already tough situation past the point of no return. We fought to keep going for as long as we could, but the numbers simply no longer add up.
